Why check before you renew
Your renewal notice usually arrives a few weeks before your policy ends, and it’s easy to let it renew as is. But price and coverage can change from one year to the next, even when nothing changed on your side.
Prices change at renewal
Insurers update their rates regularly, so your premium can go up even with no claims or tickets.
Your needs may have changed
A new car, a renovation, a new driver, a move or working from home can all change what coverage fits you.
Discounts can be missed
Depending on the insurer, you may qualify for savings such as bundling home and auto, winter tires or a claims-free record.
What Frank checks on your renewal
- Your price, compared with options from other insurers Frank works with
- Your coverage limits and deductibles, and whether they still fit
- Discounts you may be missing
- Gaps in your coverage, such as water damage on a home policy
- For auto policies: your accident benefit choices (see below)
Why compare with a broker
An insurance company’s own agents can only offer that company’s policies. Frank isn’t tied to one insurer. As a licensed broker, he can compare options across the insurers he works with and explain the differences in plain language.
Sometimes the right answer is to stay where you are, sometimes with adjusted coverage. Either way, you get a clear picture before your policy renews.

Renewing auto insurance after July 1, 2026?
Ontario changed its accident benefits on July 1, 2026. Medical, rehabilitation and attendant care benefits are still mandatory, but others, such as income replacement, caregiver, and death and funeral benefits, are now optional. The change applies when you buy or renew a policy on or after that date.
Before you remove a benefit, check what your workplace or private plan already covers. Frank can walk you through your choices at renewal.
What to have ready

Common questions
Will this change my current policy?
No. A review doesn’t change anything. Your policy only changes if you approve a change.
Do I have to switch insurers?
No. Frank explains your options, including staying with your current insurer, and you decide.
When should I start?
Ideally three to four weeks before your renewal date, so there’s time to compare and make changes. If your renewal is sooner, reach out anyway.
Can you review home and auto together?
Yes. Looking at them together can reveal bundling discounts and gaps between policies.
Do you serve my area?
Frank is based in Ottawa and works by phone with clients across Ontario.
Is my information kept private?
Yes. Your documents are used to review your insurance and are handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
