Buying or leasing a car? Have your insurance ready before pickup.
You need proof of insurance to register the car and drive it off the lot, and a lease comes with its own insurance requirements. Frank compares options, sets up the right coverage and sends proof in time for pickup.

What to know before pickup day
Proof before you drive away
To register a vehicle and get plates in Ontario, you need proof of insurance from an insurer licensed in Ontario. Dealers often register new cars for you, but they still need your insurance details.
Leases have requirements
Leasing companies set their own rules, often including $1 million or more in liability, collision and comprehensive coverage, and being added to your policy.
New car? Consider depreciation
An OPCF 43 endorsement can remove the insurer’s right to deduct depreciation when settling a claim on a newer vehicle.
What Frank sets up
- Liability limits that meet your lender’s or leasing company’s rules
- Collision and comprehensive with deductibles that fit your budget
- The OPCF 5 endorsement for a leased vehicle
- A waiver of depreciation (OPCF 43 or 43A), if it makes sense
- Proof of insurance for the dealer before pickup

Common questions
When should I call?
As soon as you’ve chosen the car. A few days before pickup gives time to compare options.
I’m replacing my current car. Is that different?
It’s usually simpler, since your policy can be updated for the new vehicle. Frank will also check whether a better option exists.
What is OPCF 43?
An optional endorsement that removes depreciation from a claim settlement for newer vehicles, within the insurer’s time limits.
The dealer offered me insurance products. Do I still need this?
Yes. Dealers may offer optional products, such as gap coverage or creditor insurance, but they don’t replace auto insurance. Frank can explain how they fit.
